Gurugram · Cars24 HQ

Hello

Hi, I’m Prachi.
Nice to have you here.

I build brands for a living. Which is a fancy way of saying I get people to care about things they didn’t wake up thinking about. Nine years of it. PR first, where I learnt attention is earned. Then comms. Then brand at Cars24, where the job description was basically “whatever nobody else is doing yet.” Turns out that’s the best job there is.

I’ll be honest about how I think about this work, because it shapes everything else on this site. I think everything in life is about love, and brand is no exception. Strip the jargon away and it’s a question of whether anyone cared. You can tell within seconds. The ad someone sweated over versus the one that got approved. The reply written by a person versus the one written by a process. The office that has a gong in it. People feel the difference even when they can’t name it, and they come back for it.

The way I measure that is simple. Love is time multiplied by attention. How long you stay with a problem, and how closely you look at the person on the other side of it. Most brands are everywhere and looking at nothing. I’d rather be in fewer places and actually see who’s in front of me. That one idea has done more for me than any budget I’ve ever had.

Day to day, that means I find where the attention went missing and put it back. I get founders to say the true thing out loud instead of the safe one. I say no to a lot of work that would have been fine. And I run a team of 15, mostly Gen Z, who are better than me at the things I hired them for and explain the internet to me daily.

Off duty I’m with my dogs, or my husband (still embarrassingly into him), or on a plane, or being terrible at a new hobby with great enthusiasm, or redecorating a house I finished decorating last month. Same rule, it turns out. Time and attention.

Scroll on. The work will tell you the rest.

Everything in life is about love. Brand included.

Four years at Cars24.
Five chapters.

Same company, five different jobs. Each chapter in my own words.

Head of Public Relations

Dec 2022 – Jun 2024 · This is where it all started.

PR is a strange starting point for someone who ends up leading brand, but I think it's the best one. You learn that attention is earned, not owed. You learn to read a journalist and adjust instantly. You learn to find the story in almost anything.

I have written over 300 exclusive stories (different ones, not agency lingo jingo) and personally networked with what I think is approximately a thousand people. I didn't know it then, but everything I'd do next would be built on what I learned to do here: make people care.

Head · Creative & Communication

Jun 2024 – Jun 2025 · The sideways step that wasn't.

Moving from PR to Creative felt like a sideways step to everyone who heard about it, including sometimes me. The muscles are completely different. In PR you are fighting for attention. In Creative you are responsible for deserving it.

I had to learn to sit with a brief that was not ready and not leave until it was. I had to care about craft in a way I had not before, not just what to say but what to leave out. I became a better thinker here. Slower in some ways. More exacting.

Founders' Office · Communication & Culture

Jun 2025 – Dec 2025 · I was not hired to do what I ended up doing here.

When you work close to founders, the job description becomes a rough guide at best. You plug gaps, you shape narratives, you help build the thing that keeps people together when everything is moving fast and not all of it is going right.

I worked on our vision, values, the culture playbook, an EVP, internal comms, blogs, inductions. I have built things here that I am proud of. I have also had ideas that went nowhere, briefed agencies whose work we did not use, and sat in rooms where I was the most confused person present. That part doesn't make the LinkedIn post usually. It should.

Head of Brand & Marketing

Jan 2026 – May 2026 · The role where all the previous chapters started making sense.

This role does not have a clean job description. I have stopped trying to write one. I came into Cars24 when the brand was somewhere in the middle, where everything is moving fast and the questions are harder than the answers.

What I have learned doing this is that brand at this stage of a company's life is mostly about discipline. Saying no to the thing that is tempting but off-brand. Keeping the creative honest when there is pressure to be clever. It is less creative director and more editor. You cut more than you create. And brand is not one person's job: the team I have built is the real work.

Builder

May 2026 – now · Vikram and Gajju trusted me with this chapter. I am still trying to be worth it.

We asked an important question earlier this year that I keep going back to: why do titles exist at all? The honest answer is they mostly tell people where you sit relative to each other. So we dropped them. At Cars24, people are defined by what they own, not what they are called.

My title became Builder. It felt more true than anything I had been called before. Also harder to explain at family dinners, but that is a different problem.

I run a team of 15 builders now. Most of them are Gen Z, all of them are faster than me at something, and I learn from them daily: what is funny, what is cringe, what a 19-year-old in Jaipur will actually watch. The best thing I have built here is the room they get to be loud in.

Growth here means harder problems, not a bigger team.

Things we experimented with.

Twenty-nine of them, pulled from four years of my own announcements to the company. Starting with the ones that travelled furthest.

The stories janta actually watched.

Press releases get you covered. Podcasts get you believed. So I got the founders onto the ones that matter: Raj Shamani, Sandeep Maheshwari, a Forbes-ex-editor sit-down with Gajju, and a run of in-house ones with Vikram, Mehul, Ruchit and Jayesh that we shoot in the design room because the studio is, in my own words to the office team, jugaadu.

Then the agency went in July 2025 and PR came fully in-house: 795 stories in six months, half of them Cat A, zero newswire, zero negative. The kind of number you only get when the people writing the pitch were in the room when the thing happened.

We want the first email, not the polished one.

We say this a lot at Cars24. This month I watched it turn into ₹1 lakh+ of merch sales. Sold out three times in 30 days. Every buyer, one of our own.

Here's the thing about love. It shows up in the boring parts. It showed up when our designers locked themselves into a design camp, sketching, scrapping, starting over until every piece was something they'd wear out of pride, not obligation. It showed up across 27 vendor meetings, because even a fabric can show how much you care. It showed up the day we set up the store, ironing every single t-shirt with our own hands so there is not a single crease.

And then love did what love does. It came back. Our people, who see this company on its best days and its worst, paid full price to wear it. Queued up when we restocked. Sold us out again.

A brand that is loved is a brand that lives.

Shiny things.

Learning beats looking good. Awards are a nice side effect.

Before Cars24.

Three stops, and the one lesson each left behind.

EY India · Brand, Marketing & Communications

Three months in the BMC team. Before that: Gold's Gym, Clear My Dues, a stint writing for University Express. I learned to write fast and ask for the story. Nobody tells you that's the whole job.

Apna · remote

Built PR from zero for a company growing faster than its story. 1,700+ media stories, 15+ snackable reports, partnerships with Google Cloud, Xiaomi and Truecaller. Built and hosted a YouTube channel called "Aapka Apna" because nobody else would. 23,500 subscribers. Still slightly embarrassed, still proud.

Not a straight line. A series of yes-es to things that were bigger than I felt ready for at the time.

Me,
offline.

The stuff that doesn't make the LinkedIn post. It should.

I thank my stars my career coincided with the era where brands finally started having some fun.

Currently obsessed
Vastu and old belief systems.

Once pitched "the best muhurat to buy a car, as per the stars" as a real campaign. Still think it would work.

Reading about
Evolutionary history.

Why we do the things we do, going back further than any brand tracker goes. Also why a billboard that names you works: your name got called in class.

Weekend
Dogs, husband, a plane, or a hobby I'm bad at.

Also redecorating a house I finished decorating last month. Same rule as the job: time and attention.

Side quest
Naming things and building little apps.

Fourdoor, Shotgun, Stepney Support, Autopilot, Dadvisory Board. If it needs a name, I'm already drafting.

Food
Vegetarian. No eggs. Yes cheese.

The hardest part of travelling abroad is dinner. Melbourne, please behave.

Thinking about
Femininity, identity, and how relationships actually work.

Also how a company is a relationship. Love = Time × Attention applies to both.

Mom
"Like a construction worker?"

Her reaction to my title becoming Builder. She has not fully recovered. I still get DMs asking if I'm okay. I am. Better, actually.

Rules I keep
Don't talk if you are not nice.

A thought from our designer that I stole. Kindness and compassion over anything. Be interesting, not impressive.

Ask me about
Maggi.

Is it just me or has the taste changed over the last one year especially? I have theories and they are not scientific.

May you find something to pour your time and attention into, and may it love you back.

Say hi.

For brand, comms, a slightly crazy idea that needs a home, or an argument about headlines.
